NRW: resuscitation training is compulsory in schools from the 2026/2027 school year
Basic resuscitation training is now a compulsory part of school life at general education schools in NRW. It applies to students in years 7 to 9 at around 2,100 schools.

What the rule requires
Students must receive at least one 90-minute session teaching them how to perform chest compressions during cardiac arrest. Parents do not need to submit an application.
How it is implemented
Schools organise the training with support from teachers, first-aid organisations and medical partners. The announcement does not set one course date for every school; each school arranges its own schedule.
