Wohngeld: housing benefit documents and forms

Tenants and owner-occupiers may qualify. Eligibility and the amount mainly depend on household size, income and housing costs.
Documents and information to prepare
- Completed and signed Wohngeld application
- ID and address evidence where needed
- Tenancy agreement
- Current rent evidence; depending on the case, additional-cost statements, rent changes or payment records
- Current income evidence for all household members: payslips, employer income certificate, pensions or other benefits
- Current decisions on unemployment benefit, parental allowance, advance maintenance, sick pay or other income if applicable
- Maintenance, interest and other investment income records if any
- Special documents such as disability evidence or care benefits where applicable
Important to know
According to Rheda-Wiedenbrück, housing benefit generally starts on the first day of the application month. For renewal, the city recommends applying around two months before the current award ends.
