- ID documents of the person granting authority

Important to know
An apostille confirms the authenticity of the signature, the signer’s capacity and, where applicable, the seal or stamp — not the document’s contents. For a German notarial power of attorney, the notary prepares or authenticates the document and the responsible authority issues the apostille. Some public documents used between EU states are exempt; this must be checked for the specific document.
