Jobcenter support: documents to prepare

For Grundsicherungsgeld, which replaced Bürgergeld on 1 July 2026, you must provide evidence of your personal circumstances, income, assets and housing costs. The exact documents depend on your household.
Documents and information to prepare
- ID or passport with a current address certificate; residence permit where applicable
- Tenancy agreement and current evidence of rent, heating and additional costs
- Statements for all bank accounts for the last 3 months
- Payslips and other income evidence for everyone in the household
- Decisions on child benefit, maintenance, sick pay, pensions or other benefits
- Documents ending the last employment and Arbeitsbescheinigung if applying after employment
- Vehicle, savings and other asset records when requested
- Marriage and birth certificates where needed to establish household composition
Important to know
Do not send originals. Kreis Gütersloh recommends signed official forms and copies of supporting documents; large files should not be sent by email for data protection reasons.
