Elterngeld in Kreis Gütersloh

You can only apply after the birth. Kreis Gütersloh recommends applying within the first 3 months of the child’s life, because retrospective payment is limited to 3 months of life.
Documents and information to prepare
- Parental allowance application
- Child’s birth certificate issued for the Elterngeld application
- Income evidence for the assessment period, usually relevant payslips for employees
- Evidence of parental leave or reduced working hours where applicable
- Health insurer’s certificate of maternity benefit (Mutterschaftsgeld)
- Employer’s certificate of the maternity benefit supplement
- For self-employment, usually the latest tax assessment and requested business records
- Evidence of expected income during the benefit period if continuing to work
- Paternity, custody or other special-circumstance documents where relevant
